Janneau is the oldest of the great Houses of Armagnac. It was founded by Pierre Etienne Janneau in 1851, in Condom. Here, for generations, the winemakers of the region bring their wines to the Maison Janneau which guarantees a scrupulous distillation, followed by a long aging of the spirits and finally by marketing. Currently Armagnac Janneau is the leading brand all over the world, and is the number one also in Italy; universally appreciated – it is in fact distributed in sixty countries – Janneau has built a solid international reputation, and plays a very important economic role for the Armagnac region.
The distillation of Armagnac can use both continuous distillation stills and discontinuous distillation stills. The Maison Janneau uses spirits produced by both methods, but prefers the use of discontinuous distillation stills, which it has had since 1972. The latter method, the first to be originally used in the area, is undoubtedly the most expensive and complex system.
