The Petrucco farm was born from the love of Lina and Paolo Petrucco for their land: we are in the heart of the D.O.C. area of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, in Buttrio in Monte.
The Colli Orientali del Friuli are gentle and sunny terraces, ideal for viticulture, practiced in these areas since ancient times. The soils are of Eocene origin, consisting mainly of stratified clays and calcareous marl. This type of soil, which takes the name of ponca, is particularly suitable for the cultivation of the vine as it is rich in mineral salts and microelements.
The property covers an area of 35 hectares, of which 20 are planted with vines, with a production of about 80,000 bottles a year, following a deliberately contained yield per hectare, which makes quality the main objective.
The Petrucco wines, all conceived exclusively in purity, are the clear expression of our land and are born from the happy combination of ancient wisdom and modern technology.
After a manual harvest and careful to perfect ripeness, the grapes are processed with great care in order to respect their integrity until pressing, followed by a fermentation at a controlled temperature.
The white wines rest on the lees in steel tanks for about 6 months, the red wines mature in wood for 12 months, with a further aging of 6 months in bottle.
The Ronco del Balbo reserves evolve into barriques for 24-36 months.
Picolit DOCG is obtained from overripe harvested grapes, which undergo a drying on racks for about 30-40 days. After a soft pressing, the must obtained is left to ferment and refine in small oak barrels for 12 months.
