Why Scaia
In Venetian dialect the word "scaia" means flake of stone, gypsum, limestone: it is a tribute to our soil, where a line of young and unique wines is produced.
The area is north-east of Verona, near the historic areas of production of two illustrious Veronese wines: Valpolicella and Soave. Our vineyards are located on the ridge of the hills, close to the Alps.
SCAIA is not just a line of wines: it is a new way of thinking about wine, in a land where tradition has great value. From the classicism of historical wines such as Soave and Valpolicella arose the need to create something innovative, closer to our needs as young producers.
We started with three SCAIA wines, young, made only in steel barrels, in a constant search for freshness, pleasantness of drinking and aromatic complexity. Two other more complex wines were then added, which have not lost these characteristics, despite being produced with slightly dried parts of the grapes.
THE ORIGIN
From white, calcareous and scaly soils.
Attention, imagination and typical grapes of the territory:
the contemporary meaning of an ancient tradition.
