CERRETALTO
The mineral imprint given by the soil, the extraordinary concentration reachable only in certain vintages and only thanks to a Sangiovese with a small and sparse bunch, the decisive human contribution of dedication and love for the work of the land and the great attention in the cellar allow us to reach a wine of exceptional quality, personality and unique style that fully expresses the territory where it was born together with our idea of the great Brunello. All this has been appreciated several times by the most important names in the international press that has awarded Cerretalto the highest awards: 100/100 Wine Spectator, 100/100 James Suckling, 100/100 Luca Gardini, 100/100 International Wine Report, 100/100 Wine Enthusiast, 99+ Wine Advocate.

Casanova di Neri produces wines from unique vineyards
Casanova di Neri is the result of a process of productive and philosophical evolution, a new vision of Brunello di Montalcino that starts from the tradition of which it gives a different and innovative interpretation. The deep dedication to the land and respect for it, the conviction that it represents the fulcrum of the production of unique wines and the conforming the practices of the cellar to respect for the grapes and their different personality that comes from the land are our deep conviction and represent our truest values.
Founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri who with great vision and passion understood the great wine potential of the Montalcino area. It passed into the hands of his son Giacomo in 1991.
Casanova di Neri in fact means the Casanova Company of the Neri Family.
The production started in the east of Montalcino and then expanded to other locations.
First the Cerretalto vineyard where, in addition to a unique terroir inserted in a natural amphitheater on the Asso stream, it also finds in the old vineyard a Sangiovese different from the others,
with small and sparse bunches, from which a mass selection was obtained and subsequently used for our other vineyards, in particular the Tenuta Nuova.
The acquisition of the Cerretalto vineyard is followed by that of Le Cetine, Pietradonice and then the Podernuovo. All this following exclusively the search for the best land and
exhibitions to produce unique and recognizable wines.
The first harvest produced of Brunello was 1978. Then follows Cerretalto 1981, Rosso di Montalcino 1982, Tenuta Nuova 1993, PietradOnice 2000, IrRosso di Casanova di Neri 2006 and last IbBianco 2011. In our small but at the same time great history we have obtained in recent years exceptional awards from the most
Important magazines and opinion leaders of national and international specialized critics.
Currently the company covers an area of about 500 hectares of which 63 are vineyards, 20 of olive groves and the rest arable land and woods.
The wines, obtained from grapes coming only from our vineyards, are the result of vineyard projects first and then of obsessive attention throughout the winemaking process.
The uniqueness and heterogeneity of the soils and microclimates present in the different sides of Montalcino have led us to produce 8 wines, each with specific peculiarities but all attributable to the style of Casanova di Neri and Montalcino.

VINTAGE 2012
VINTAGE NOTES The winter of 2012 was mild until the end of March, the month in which we had a record snowfall for our territory, which allowed us to accumulate abundant water reserves throughout the vegetative cycle.
A regular budding to a mild and sunny spring led to an excellent vegetative development leading to a rapid and homogeneous flowering. July and August were hot and almost devoid of rain, despite this the vines did not suffer thanks to the water reserves accumulated in winter and veraison found optimal conditions taking place regularly. Some rains between late August and early September allowed the ripening to be completed uniformly with excellent aromatic and polyphenolic parameters.
The harvest took place manually in the first week of October.

NOTES BY GIOVANNI NERI Cerretalto 2012 is a wine of strong charisma in which intensity, delicacy and an almost cheeky elegance are masterfully mixed.
2012 combines the main characteristics of each Cerretalto: richness, generosity but also freshness and firmness of structure. It has a very pleasant and brilliant intense and young ruby red.
The nose is mineral, fresh and charismatic, a promise of an innate intensity and elegance, enlivened by the decisive presence of variegated red fruits fused with chocolate, licorice accompanied by citrus notes and smoky hints, in addition to the unmistakable graphite.
In the mouth it is wide and wide, with a dense and dense tannic texture that is enhanced by finesse and silkiness. The finish is prolonged with a lively and vibrant acid vein that allows you to close on a fresh and voluminous note. All these factors point to a very long life.
Serve at the recommended temperature with the foresight to uncork it at least 3 hours before.
