The historic Coppo cellars have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site: a prestigious recognition, which fills the company with pride and that makes the Underground Cathedrals a temple dedicated to wine, its history and the hard work of man.
Built in all probability from the eighteenth century as small conservation cellars, remodeled and enlarged during the 1800s and 1900s up to the renovations and modern accommodations, the historic Coppo cellars develop under the hill of Canelli for an extension of over 5 thousand square meters and a depth that, at its lowest point, It reaches 40 meters.
The history of the Coppo company is inextricably intertwined with that of Piedmontese wine, in particular with the development of Canelli, homeland and capital of Italian sparkling wine, still today one of the most important Italian wine centers.
A story of tradition and courageous vision of the future, of sacrifice and innovation. A story that demonstrates the unconditional love of the Coppo for the places of origin, the vines that have always been cultivated in Piedmont and the long family tradition.
The origins of the company date back to 1892 and for over 120 years follow the events of the family, today still the sole owner. The ability, since its origins, to lead the vineyards owned and to vinify and bottle the grapes produced under its own brand make the Coppo winery one of the oldest wineries in Italy.

Nizza DOCG Pomorosso 2017 Coppo cl 75
Pomorosso is the reference wine for Coppo. It is one of the wines that has made the history of Barbera, contributing to the international recognition of the vine and the cellar. Born in 1984, it was the first wine of the "Barbera d'Asti" denomination to receive the Tre bicchieri del Gambero Rosso. It has always respected the most restrictive rules on the positioning of the vineyards and on the production most recently required by the "Nizza docg" specification.
