Initially they grow coffee, called Coloma, a few years later they produce a liqueur of the same name that becomes very popular throughout the country. Although it was his dream to be able to open a rum distillery, at the time for Colombian law it was not allowed.

In 2005 the law changes and distillation is allowed in private companies. The son decides to restart rum production with the help of two Colombian master blenders, Sandra Reatigui and Judith Ramirez. Coloma is produced from the distillation of molasses, rests for 8 years in oak barrels that have previously contained bourbon and from 6 to 12 months finishes its aging in barrels used for the storage of the homonymous coffee liqueur.
